Wallpapering your hallway in New York City

What does your building hallway look like? NYC has tens of thousands of miles of hallways and corridors. When it comes to the look and feel of a building hallway, nothing makes a statement like wall covering. Vinyl wallpaper (solid vinyl) is a great option to improve the appearance of your New York City hallway. Vinyl wallpaper is available in thousands of colorways, patterns and textures. Having worked as professional wallpaper hanger in NYC for many years now, I have seen lots of hallways, the hallway that has been nicely wallpapered stands in a class by itself.
Vinyl wallcovering is highly recommended for hallway use because it is visually appealing, durable and saves the need of repeated painting.
As wallpaper hangers in NYC we see first hand the benefits of using solid vinyl wallpaper. Last week we removed a vinyl wallpaper that our client had installed in her kitchen twenty-five years ago. It was amazing how well the vinyl wallpaper stood up after all of these years.
As a wallpaper hanger over the years I have seen how the  wallcovering industry has shifted to  other wallpaper substrate types, using the terms "vinyl coated" (vinyl coated is nothing more than a semi-water repellant that is applied over a paper based wall covering) These vinyl coated papers are recommended for use in kitchens and bathrooms. The truth is that vinyl coated wallpaper does not stand up well in kitchens and bathrooms where there are humid conditions or water is frequently splashed onto the wallpaper surface.Solid vinyl continues to be the best material for kitchens bathrooms and high traffic hallways.
Vinyl wallcovering is surprising affordable.

Practical use of commercial vinyl wall covering in New York City

Yesterday I was in a building in Brooklyn Heights with 10 foot ceilings in hallways that were entirely papered with vinyl wallpaper. Having worked as a wallpaper hanger in NYC for many years there is a definite visual advantage in hanging vinyl wallcovering. Wallpaper in hallways looks great and is durable and easily removed.

Discovering the "new look"of commercial vinyls...the choices are fantastic.

Last week we spent some time at the D&D building (Decoration and Design Building) preparing walls and installing wall covering for one of our clients in the building. Its alway a visual treat to see the creative window displays at the D&D. As a wallpaper hanger, I always notice the wallcoverings, the array of design patterns, textures and special effects is delicious to the eye!
I had the opportunity to meet Mercedes at the Wolf-Gordon showroom. The showroom is fantastic and truly represents the achievements of vinyl wall coverings in the design and decoration industry over the years. It is now possible to convincingly replicate in vinyl almost any texture or finish. The durability and practicality of commercial grade 15 and 20 ounce vinyl has long been recognized by the commercial, hospitality and healthcare industries.
As a wallpaper hanger here in NYC whenever I see the  need to use vinyl wall covering I enthusiastically recommend it to my clients. More times than I care to count  upon hearing the word "vinyl" the knee jerk reaction is a haughty little grimace "Vinyl?....oh, no no I don't like vinyl."  In my opinion it is time to reconsider outdated  prejudices regarding vinyl wallpapers. The new vinyls are visually on the cutting edge of decoration and deserved to be considered more often for use in both residential and commercial spaces.
